Two decades of designing bespoke oak framed homes have left us with an archive brimming with exciting and inspiring designs. Here, we take a look at three of our most popular oak designs, digging a little deeper into how they came about and what makes them so special.
This small, cosy cottage style design is one of the first homes we ever created at Welsh Oak Frame. Its compact layout provides a surprisingly large amount of space, with a generous footprint of 168 square metres. WOF 1 has been the starting point of many homes since its inception, as clients take the elements they like and expand on them, adding their own styles and preferences to the design. We have a real soft spot for this home and, based on how popular it is, we know a lot of our clients do too.
Barn-style homes are amongst our most popular and requested designs. Our handcrafted oak sits perfectly in these larger, more open-plan homes, giving them a real sense of timelessness and space. When clients come to us expressing their interest in a barn-style home we always point them in the direction of our WOF 220 design. WOF 220 is an impressive 251 square metres, making it the perfect starting point for a family home. The open-plan areas make it easy to merge rooms, creating further opportunities for modern or contemporary plans.
If you are looking to build a larger home, WOF 76 A is a great place to start. This two-storey home features a lot of what oak frame does best. Vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glazing and plenty of room inside. Many of our clients have used this design as a template for their own homes, using our flexible service to chop and change as they go.
