Working with architects

collaborate with us

Over the past two decades, we have collaborated with many architects and designers on a wide range of oak frame projects both residential and commercial. It presents the perfect opportunity to join forces when it comes to the overall design and along with our oak frame expertise, we can deliver the best end result for your clients.

Because oak framing is a specialist method of construction, extensive knowledge of this build system is essential. This will help to avoid issues later on and make the most of what oak can offer, both in terms of aesthetics and structural capabilities. We can advise on how to keep costs down, giving you solutions to achieve your clients’ vision within their budget.

If you are looking to incorporate an oak frame into a client’s project, we would be delighted to discuss with you how we can help. We would be pleased to offer advice and guidance, design assessments, full costings as well as ongoing support throughout the project.

Send us your drawings

Handcrafting oak: A frame that stands out

We have spent many years perfecting the art of handcrafting the best oak frames in the business. We are one of the very few oak framing companies that still truly handcraft our oak frames. This results in a more impressive oak frame, full of striking details that are not possible to achieve with a machine-made frame. Our oak frames are infused with a more natural feel, free from ridged lines and angles.

When designing the oak frame to work with the architect’s drawings, Welsh Oak Frame maximised the spans between the oak trusses, to minimise the number needed. The large spans, with no timber posts intruding into the space, allow for easy circulation and maximum sight lines

Bonnington Architects worked with Welsh Oak Frame to design the oak frame for this stunning upside down, barn style home, built on a sloping site. The impressive frame demonstrates what years of handcrafting oak results in – with the huge A Frame taking centre stage and curved sling braces that can only be achieved by hand.  This collaboration resulted in the property winning a Build it Award for Best Oak Frame.
